Bern, Switzerland (Tribune de Geneve, Fre) - The political fight over allowing smoking in public is not likely to be resolved soon in Switzerland. The lower house of Parliament has voted 89-88 to allow restaurants and hotels to offer smoking areas if no good non-smoking solution can be found easily. The upper house has already debated and voted against it twice, but the proposed change to the law will now be returned to them and if they refuse to budge the matter will go before a conciliation commission.
