Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Geneva’s citizens went to the polls to elect the 80 members of its
Assemblée constituante genevoise, the group that will examine and rewrite the cantonal constitution, and its aging population delivered a surprise.
Nine of the 80 seats have gone to members of Avivo, an association that represents retired people, while the main political parties each saw six or seven of their members elected, and several other organizations and associations have smaller numbers of seats. The constitution is under review largely because its age has rendered it out of date and in need of more than simple fixes, reports RSR.
