geneva_jet_deau_stoplight.jpgGeneva, Switzerland (TSR, Fre) - Laurent Moutinot, Geneva councilor with responsibility for the police, has told officers that the Euro 2008 football cup pay bonus”promised” to them was always subject to approval by the canton’s Council finance commission, which has given its final word: no.

According to Moutinot, the risk that the commission would say no was made clear at the time a CHF2,500 bonus was offered to the police. Officers went on a fines strike 17 October - refusing to hand out minor fines, a source of revenue - arguing they should be paid the bonus.
