Chexbres and Belmont, Vaud, Switzerland (TSR, Fre) - Eight kilometres of traffic jam on the A9 autoroute between Chexbres and Belmont are likely to continue until Friday.

The autoroute has been turned into a two-lane highway for four kilometres to allow repairs to a key joint on a bridge. The joint allows the bridge to absorb swelling and shrinkage caused by weight as well as temperature and humidity. It was discovered to be in an advanced state of disrepair when a road works crew checked it as part of their regular maintenance work.
