Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Girls “working” in veterinarian offices, at international organizations, at federal offices, and even at GenevaLunch. It is not child labour, but rather part of the eighth National Girls Day.
All girls in grade five inĀ Canton Geneva were eligible to be excused from school and spend the day at work with one of their parents. Some children opted out from spending the day with one of their parents and instead visited work places that were of interest to them to see what the job was all about. According to information given out by the city of Geneva, girls excel in school but the number of young women pursuing higher education is lower than for men of their same age. La journee des filles, as it is known in French, is geared to motivate girls to continue on to higher education.
