MSF staff abducted in Somalia freed

Geneva, Switzerland and Brussels, Belgium (GenevaLunch) - A Belgian doctor and Dutch medical worker who were abducted in Somalia 19 April were released 28 April, announced Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), for whom the two work.

Dag Horntvedt, MSF interim director for the Somalia region,  release was due to “an impressive support of communities and leaders in Bakool and Bay, as well as in other parts of Somalia. Their spontaneous mobilisation for liberating our colleagues has made all the difference. This support illustrates the appreciation from the communities and their leaders for the tireless efforts of our Somali staff and international staff to bring assistance to their people.”
