Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – A local International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) employee and his mother were killed 13 May by an army shell, reports Le Temps, in the crowded and dangerous northeast corner of Sri Lanka, where government troops are battling Tamil Tigers.
A ferry boat contracted by ICRC to take essential food and medicine to the safe area and evacuate those civilians most at risk, especially the wounded, women and children, was unable to beach Monday 12 May due to the dangerous situation, according to Paul Castella, ICRC chief delegate in Colombo. The ICRC has called for a ceasefire to allow civilians trapped by the fighting to leave.

Our hertiest condolences to ICRC. Humanity will always thank the dedication and services of this employee and the mother.
If an army shell can kill an ICRC worker and his mother in the crowd, imagine how many others would have got killed. This is what Tamils are trying to tell the world and no one seems to care including the U.N.
Good job Genevalaunch. Please keep us know what is happening since you have people on the ground and you get first hand information from them. I pray to god to save the lives of ICRC workers and other Tamil men, women and children who are facing starvation and continuous shelling by the SL army in Vanni.
Rest in peace… hope this war finished with freedom to our LTTE and Tamils.
IC please give our Tamil eelam so the Tamils can live in freedom and with dignity.. enough is enough…
future children are being killed .. many are orphans now… in an open prisn.. why GOSL ?
Tamils are human too….
Love and Peace

Our heart felt condolences t ICRC. Where is our COMPASSION? These are CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY and its time for the world to stop watching and DO SOMETHING. Are we going to ALLOW a repeat of Rwanda, Bosnia & all the other genocides in recent history? Have we not learned anything?? If the Sri Lankan government is not doing anything wrong – why are no foreign journalists or neutral monitors from the UN/Humanitarian organizations allowed in the region? And why have they expelled all previous journalists and now recently denied Visas/entrance to members of various nations on peace-seeking MISSIONS. Someone please help!!!!
With lots of love and peace
