Libya’s request to dismember Switzerland was turned down by UN

Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Media reports in Switzerland that Libyan leader Muammar Qadaffi was planning to ask the United Nations to discuss the dismemberment of Switzerland, with its neighbours taking linguistically related areas have turned out to be accurate, but with the wrong date.

News agency ATS has received confirmation from the UN in New York that Libya made such a request over a month ago, but since it goes against UN rules the request was immediately turned down without consideration, and no public notice was circulated. A member country of the UN cannot threaten the existence of another member.

“A member country of the UN cannot threaten the existence of another member.” That is, unless the country being threatened is the State of Israel. This happens frequently, yet it never seems to be blocked from the agenda.
