Mubarak ordered back to prison

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Egypt’s public prosecutor ordered former president Hosni Mubarak back to prison Monday 16 July, nearly a month after he was sent to a military hospital after allegedly suffering from a stroke.

Prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud said that the former leader, who had been sentenced to life in June for the deaths of protesters in the uprising against him, could be transferred back to prison after an improvement in his health.

There was much uncertainty about the health condition of the former 84-year-old leader at the time of his transfer to the military hospital on June 19, when the state media had declared him clinically dead.
