30-yr-old Vaud Polish man dies in rock quarry climb

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – A 30-year-old man who was one of a group of roped climbers heading up the rock quarry near St Triphon in Vaud fell 10 metres to his death Wednesday evening, say Vaud police. The man was the first of two people roped together and as they were heading towards the rock face at 20:00 he slipped and fell 10 metres, for reasons that are unclear. He was treated by his fellow climbers and emergency crews that were called to the scene, but he died at the scene of the accident.

The quarry is a popular rock climbing area.

An inquiry has been opened, with a team from the Vaud Gendarmerie mountain specialists leading the investigation.
