GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Riyad Hijab Syria’s Prime Minister has defected, a further sign of the isolation of Bashar al-Assad’s government around an inner core of powerful members of his minority Alawite sect.
Hijab became the highest-profile official to leave the embattled regime two months after he was appointed.
Hijab fled to Jordan on Monday 6 August with his family.
