GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Uganda gave the world an upbeat finish to the 2012 London Summer Games 11 August, an Olympics that ended with the medal-counting nations in the shadows for a moment while a country that hasn’t won gold in 40 years stepped up for the medal. The marathon was won by Uganda’s Stephen Kiprotich, who easily outdistanced the highly favoured runners from Kenya and Ethiopia.
