CINCINATTI, OHIO – Roger Federer strengthened his position at the top of the ATP rankings with a convincing win over second placed Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2012 Cincinnati Masters, 19 August. The Swiss star crushed the Serb 6-0 in the first set and then held on in the more competitive second to win in the tie-break. Federer thus won the tournament for a record 5th time, and did so without conceding serve a single time. The win also means he has matched Rafa Nadal’s record of 21 ATP tournament wins. His record against Djokovic also improved to 16-12. Federer will hold the ATP top ranking at least till the end of the US Open.
