ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – The Swiss franc held steady against the dollar, euro and pound sterling in August, compared to earlier summer exchange rates, figures published by the Swiss National Bank Monday show.
The Interbank trade (bid price) monthly averages for the three in August, compared to July and to August 2011:
Swiss franc/euro – 1.2011, 120.10 and 112.05
Swiss franc/dollar – 00.9685, 00.9766, 00.7812
Swiss franc/pound sterling – 152.13, 152.19, 127.87
The SNB in August 2011 capped the Swiss franc at CHF1.20 to the euro to stop the rapid rise of the franc as investors sought a safe haven.
