ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – Swiss newspapers are no longer losing ground to the Internet, but these are not necessarily happy days for them, with the main for-pay newspapers in French-speaking Switzerland seeing slippage in their audiences, for example. Pn the whole, readership has remained stable throughout the country, in the past year, with your average consumer reading eight newspapers and magazines.
In the greater Lake Geneva area, regional newspapers La Liberté in Fribourg and La Côte in Morges have gained some readers while major papers Le Temps and 24 Heures have lost readers; the Tribune de Geneve has held steady.
The Remp institute that measures media audiences is changing its methodology in 2013 and it will no longer be possible to compare figures with the past.
