GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Teachers are joining the strike by public workers Thursday afternoon: teachers’ groups sent a letter to parents and school directors announcing they would be joining the strike and children will be sent home during the second period of classes (the after-lunch session) 13 September.
The expected number of Geneva’s public sector workers who will be on strike Thursday 13 September isn’t yet known, but 200 members of the Cartel intersyndical de la fonction publique voted overwhelmingly Monday evening to hold the strike. The main issue is the fusion of pension funds, under discussion by the cantonal parliament Thursday.
The strike includes a march starting at 15:00 from the Place Neuve.
