Weekend weather, what’s on

Dawn, Lake Geneva, at 07:30 4 October, looking towards Montreux

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Three more weeks to go with summer time, before Europe moves back an hour, which means that getting up at the crack of dawn isn’t early-early at the moment. We are clearly in the in-between season, with nighttime lows of 8-9C this Friday and Saturday, and  highs of 22C, with sunshine throughout the country, and some clouds building up Saturday. Cloudier weather with the possibility of some rain Sunday, lows of 12-13C and highs of 17-18C.

The vendange is in full swing starting this weekend, so drive carefully, with an eye out for slow tractors and trailers piled high with grapes, on secondary and country roads.

Coming up next here: one-day city break to Basel, perfect for a weekend or the October school holidays, which start in a week for some schools. Switzerland, highlights this weekend include: wine tasting and more at the Valais cantonal fair in Martigny, the Lugano Autumn Festival and in Geneva, the very special photographic exhibit “Faces of Geneva” by Josh Fassbind.
