Four men arrested for stealing truck, then copper

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND – Four men were arrested in Lucerne and Zug and taken to Vaud, where they face charges of stealing a truck, then CHF20,000 worth of copper that weighed two tons.

Police in Vaud tracked them after investigating a series of copper thefts in the canton, and they alerted police in German-speaking Switzerland that material stolen in Solothurn appeared to be en route to Lucern. Two of the men were arrested by police in Zug and Lucern police arrested and questioned 10 individuals at a scrap metal reception centre, but released several of them.

The price of scrap copper has been rising steadily for several months.
