GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – People living near the airport in Geneva can expect to hear propeller planes the nights of 22-23 and 23-24 October.
The Swiss federal aviation office has approved night flights to facilitate testing radio navigation systems. Airport ISL, or instrument landing systems must be checked regularly to ensure they are working properly, using specially equipped aircraft.
The airport, officially known as Aéroport International de Genève, requested the night flights to avoid burdening the airport’s regular operations. In case of problems, the two following nights have been reserved and approved.
