BASEL, SWITZERLAND – Roger Federer has made it in to the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Open, and managed to hold his number 1 world title for a career 300th week, but fellow Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinski made him work hard, very hard, for the win.
Federer left the court with a 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 victory, but the nearly two hour match looked anything but certain in the second set. It was only after taking a tough tie-break that Federer rose to the occasion and dominated the third set to win.
