Federal budget surplus despite lower revenues

BERN, SWITZERLAND – The Swiss federal government expects to end the year with a CHF1.4 billion surplus, slightly less than the surplus estimated in June, but well above the balanced budget planned for the year.

Tax revenues were down slightly by the end of September, but expenditure was also lower, show figures to the end of September, published 31 October. Fiscal revenues were CHF58.7 billion, lower than the budgeted CHF59.9b. Expenditures wewre CHF61.7b, below the budgeted CHF64.1b.
