Update 11:30 ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – An early morning passenger train collision between Dachsen and Schaffhausen on the Winterthur-Schaffhausen rail line, near the border with Germany, has injured 17 people, 9 of them hospitalized, Schaffhausen police say. The injuries are reportedly not serious.
The accident is causing interrupted service and delays, the CFF rail company announced early Thursday 10 January. The company has not provided details about the crash nor is the cause known. The accident occurred at 07:30 between two trains coming from Winterthur and Schaffhausen, which appear to have sideswiped each other.
Travellers from Zurich to Stuttgart are being rerouted via Basel and told to allow more time for their journeys.
