Meteorite explosion causes injuries, panic in Russia (Update)

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – A falling meteor that may have been exploded by the Russian military above Earth appears to have caused windows to blow out, mobile phones to stop working and houses to shake. The Russian government’s emergency ministry  says the damage was caused by a meteorite shower over the Ural mountains and a local government officials has confirmed that a meteorite fell into a lake near Chebarkul, but few details have been confirmed by Moscow.

Reports on the number of people seeking medical treatment have varied, but officials appeared late Friday to believe close to 1,000 people have sought treatment for injuries, mostly from broken glass and concussions.
