BERN, SWITZERLAND – Four areas along the A9 autoroute are scheduled for major maintenance and upgrading work, a three-year project that begins in March 2013. The main areas are: Bex, Martigny, Sion and Simplon. The stretch around Bex will involve occasional slowdowns and capping the speed at lower limits while two bridges are replaced.
A series of projects including new roundabouts and an additional lane at Sion Ouest, which suffers from heavy rush hour traffic, will mean reduced speeds along this stretch.
Simplon involves six projects in various areas.
Details about the roadworks as they progress and their impact on traffic will be available to the public on a special A9 website.
