La poste is generic and not protected under IP laws for Swiss post office use only, judge rules
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – “La poste” is a generic term open to use by any number of companies and not the intellectual property of the Swiss post office, the Federal Administrative Tribunal has ruled. The post office, whose name in French is La Poste, uses the term to refer to its packages and letters delivery service. The federal Intellectual Property Office had refused to accept its request to protect the use of the term.
