Slightly fewer small claims court fights over rent in second half 2012

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The second half of 2012 saw more than 15,000 new legal battles over rent and property inherited taken to Swiss small claims courts, about 300 less than in the first half of the year. The overall number was relatively stable, as was the balance of the reasons behind the rent fights, with three types of problems accounting for half of the cases: lease ending, non-payment of rent and disagreement over a rent that was lowered.

Just under half, 47 percent, of pending cases were resolved during the period, while 32 percent were withdrawn, or the case was determined to have no grounds or the case was sent on to a tribunal.
