Solar Impulse pilots André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard: they’re taking turns, one for each leg of the run from St Louis to Washington

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Here’s hoping the tornados head away from Solar Impulse, which just took off from  St Louis, Missouri, to fly to Cincinnati, Ohio, the first leg of the flight to Washington DC. The flight was originally scheduled as a direct flight, but weather has already forced the plane to take a new path. So far, so good, with a 04:00 departure from St Louis.

The weather reports in the Washington area are not reassuring for Friday, so cross your fingers the weather improves for tomorrow’s scheduled Cincinatti to Washington run. You can watch it live on Solar Impulse TV.
