French mother risks prison for taking girl’s exam

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Mothers beware: do not try to take your children’s secondary school exams for them! A mother was caught in the act in Paris this week, trying to take her daughter’s high school English exam. The exam supervisor realized that the person sitting the exam was not the same as the person with that name who had sat a philosophy exam a few days earlier, reports French agency AFP.

Police were called and the mother arrested; both mother and daughter face charges that could include prison sentences and a fine. The daughter could also be censured and not allowed to take the exam or enter a French university for five years, authoritites told AFP, although they would not comment specifically on the case.
