ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – The rumours and gossip have been building for the past 10 days, but Tuesday an official in the mayor’s office in Kusnacht near Zurich officially confirmed to news agency AFP that longtime couple Tina Turner and Erwin Bach will marry this weekend.
Turner and German music industry executive Bach, who is 15 years younger than the 73-year-old singer, have been quietly living in the village on Lake Zurich since 1995.
She retired from the music business after doing a tour in 2008-09, but she made headlines earlier this year when she renounced her US citizenship and became Swiss.
Her village approved the application in January and it was confirmed by the canton and confederation in April.
Schweiz am Sonntag reports that Turner will wear a Giorgio Armani dress and that the guests, a who’s who of celebrities, have been asked to wear white to the the traditional Buddhist celebration at the couple’s home. They will earlier be married in a civil ceremony in Kusnacht.
Turner, who was born Anna Mae Bullock, was married to singer Ike Turner from 1962 to 1978. She has been Bach’s companion since 1986.
