GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – A fairytale wedding took place Saturday in Geneva, with the marriage of the oldest son of the Aga Khan, Prince Rahim Aga Khan (Aga Khan IV), 41, and American super-model Kendra Salwa Spears, 24. The two were married in an intimate Muslim ceremony with family and close friends present, at the Château de Bellerive on the shores of Lake Geneva. The chateau is the home of the late Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and his wife Princess Aliya.

Prince Rahim works for the Aga Khan Development Network on programmes to cut poverty in developing countries.

The wedding was announced by The Ismaili, the official web site for Ismaili Muslims.

The Aga Khan, who announced the pair’s engagement in April, is the leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims throughout the world. He is also a well-known billionaire who owns some of the world’s finest racehorses. Prince Rahim’s mother is the British first wife of the Aga Khan, Begum Salimah Aga Khan. He was born in Geneva in 1971.
