Foreign trade weakens

whirligig_alps_310713_1BERN, SWITZERLAND – Switzerland’s foreign trade suffered in August, with exports down 5.8 percent and imports down 8.4 percent, with trade with the European Union slowing notably.

The figures are 1.7 and 4.4 percent respectively after being corrected for the number of open business days.

Switzerland’s trade balance was CHF1.9 billion at the end of the month.
