Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – The ICRC (International Red Cross) said Saturday that its four staff who were abducted 26 September have been released, unconditionally. The four were taken by armed forces in Wardak Province, southwest of Kabul, as they returned from a mission, but the ICRC has not given details about the work they were doing there except to say they were not involved in negotiations. The oganization has been actively involved in obtaining the release of people held hostage by different groups in the country.

Of the four ICRC staff released Saturday two are from Afghanistan, one is from Myanmar and the other from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
