Bern, Switzerland and Milan, Italy (TSR, Fre and swissinfo) – Carla del Ponte, Switzerland’s new ambassador to Argentina, was told by the Foreign Ministry not to promote in Milan as planned, last weekend, her just-published book on her years heading the war crimes tribunal in The Hague. The Swiss government told her that some of her harsh comments that appear in the book, written with New York Times journalist Chuck Sudetic, are incompatible with her role as a diplomat. She was ordered to return promptly to her job in Buenos Aires. The book, The Hunt: Me and War Criminals, is being published  this week in Italy, with an English version expected later this year, according to Hirondelle news agency.
