Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Media in the Lake Geneva region have all picked up the ATS story Tuesday morning about the latest star on the culinary circuit, Dominique Gauthier, age 41, named “cuisinier de l’année 2009″ (chef of the year) by the Gault Millau guide. The 2009 guide came out Saturday.
Gauthier has been chef of the restaurant Le Chat-Botté at the Beau-Rivage on the lakefront in Geneva. He has worked in the kitchens there since 1996. He was given an 18th point in the guide’s 20 point system. Two other chefs were awarded an 18th point, one in Graubuenden, the other in Basel. The guide has no 20-point chefs in Switzerland out of the 811 restaurants listed. It’s 19-point chefs remain unchanged: Philippe Chevrier (Satigny, Geneva), Gérard Rabaey (Brent, Vaud), Philippe Rochat (Crissier, Vaud), Bernard Ravet (Vufflens-le-Château, Vaud) and Didier de Courten (Sierre, Valais). In German-speaking Switzerland there are two: Horst Petermann, Küsnacht, Zurich, and André Jaeger, Schaffhouse.
