Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Swisstopo, the government map service, has published five new ski touring maps and will publish another three by the end of 2008.
Swisstopo has been working with the Swiss Alpine Club to coordinate the maps with the club’s digital guides. The new maps provide a wealth of useful planning and emergency information for skiers and snowshoers, including locations of mountain huts and useful phone numbers.
The new 1:50 000 maps are:
- 249S Tarasp
- 258S Bergün
- Brauogn
- 259S Ofenpass
- 268S Julierpass
- 469S Val Poschiavo.
Available at the end of 2008:
- 254S Interlaken
- 264S Jungfrau
- 274S Visp
