French police have arrested a man in the southwestern French town of Cauterets whom they believe is the military leader of the Spanish Basque separatist group Eta. Garikoitz Aspiazu Rubina, alias “Txeroki,” was taken in for the murder of two police officers in 2007. Eta renewed its campaign of violence against the Spanish government after secret talks broke down in mid-2007. BBC
