Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Equestrian fever has arrived in Geneva with the opening of the 48th international show jumping. The four-day event began today, 11 December, at 08:00 with a national competition. It was followed by the opening ceremony that included over 2,000 students. The event continues until 14 December.

In addition to the show jumping competition, also known as stadium jumping or jumpers, pre-qualifiers for the FEI World Cup will take place this week. Prizes for winners include CHF100,000 and “smaller” prizes of CHF10,000 or less. Non-competitive events include pony rides for smaller fans, jumping clinics and jumping-related art exhibits, all at Palexpo.

Thanks for the update about the International Jumping!

It’s a great event, and it’s also good to see organizers working to bring the sport to more young people. Horsemanship is a fantastic activity for youth as well as older, and a living bit of historical connection.
