Geneva, Swtizerland (TSR/ats, Fre) – Two students in year 8 at the Montbrillant school in Geneva accidentally drove the red Peugeot of an uncle of one of them into a cement ping-pong table, injuring a 13-year-old boy.
The uncle had left the car parked in the school lot while he did his shopping at the nearby Migros. His sister, the mother of one of the boys, both aged 13, left the car to go inside the school and talk to a teacher. She asked the boys to keep an eye on the car. They climbed inside to get out of the cold weather and used the keys, which had been left in the ignition, to start the car.
According to the police report the boys were amusing themselves by revving the engine and cutting the motor several times when the car suddenly shot forward, through a metal barrier and after several metres it plowed into the table where a group of students were gathered.
The injured boy was released from the hospital by the end of the afternoon after being treated for a sore hip.
