Louis Palmer and his solar taxi at the Taupo racetrack, New Zealand

Lucerne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Louis Palmer, journalist, teacher, adventurer, has come home to snowy, icy Switzerland with his solar taxi in good shape after17 months crossing 38 countries, a trip of well over 50,000 km.

Palmer’s taxi never used a drop of petrol and held up well during the trip, he says. His last major stop was in Poznan, Poland for the World Climate Change Conference. According to wire service ATS he plans to leave in a year on a similar trip, but with a solar car that is faster. His only regret on this trip, he told reporters, is that he was refused entry to Japan: his Swiss license plates were not considered valid.
