Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Funding has been approved for 16 urgent urban agglomeration transport projects, just in time to meet a 31 December deadline for federal monies to be freed for them. The list includes several key Lake Geneva region projects.
Two of the regional projects are well underway, the M2 Metro in Lausanne and the first stage of the Cornavin-Meyrin-Cern tram in Geneva. The others, in earlier stages of construction or development, are:
- Adapting the public transport system in the Lausanne region
- Réseau Express in Vaud, Prilly-Malley station
- Tram Cornavin-Meyrin-Cern, second stage, Geneva
- Tram Onex-Bernex (canton Geneva)
- Regional train Cornavin-Eaux-Vives-Annemasse (Ceva): first stage carried out but further development of the project is halted while the Swiss federal administrative tribunal considers legal challenges.
