Roland Burris, who was turned away at the door of the US Senate when he tried to take up his appointment as Barack Obama’s replacement in early January, has now been accepted for the seat by Democrats, in an about-face. Burris was appointed by the governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, who is under investigation for earlier trying to sell the seat. Reuters
