Geneva, Switzerland (Tribune de Geneve, TRS, Fre) – Protesters who want to march against the World Economic Forum in Davos this year, in Geneva, will not be able to because they are too disorganized and the risk that marches will degenerate into chaos is too great, council Laurent Moutinot has decided.

Moutinot has responsibility for the police matters and he said Wednesday “I have the impression I’m not banning a protest: I’m taking measures to prevent a gathering of thugswho want to break things.” He and policie officials note that the request to march does not have the support of a large number of groups who might be expected to back it.

31 January, the day planned for the protest, the police will be out in large numbers and their presence very visible, with reinforcements from other parts of Switzerland, authorities announced.
