Innsbruck, Austria (TSR, Fre) – Daniel Albrecht, one of Switzerland’s top competitive skiers, is in an induced coma, in stable condition, but with his prognosis uncertain, TSR reports.
He was hospitalized following a 140 kph crash during training at Kitzbuehl in Austria. SwissSki, the official ski association, would not confirm or deny the details, TSR says. On its web site SwissSki reports that he was hospitalized, a coma was induced and he is undergoing neurological examinations. According to TSR, which cites as its source the Austrian doctor for this weekend’s World Cup races, Albrecht suffered cerebral hemorrhaging and damage to his lungs.
The accident occurred when he leaned back slightly on the final jump of the course and fell onto his back.
