Worrisome shortages of blood for transfusions and blood matching problems will be a thing of the past if British researchers have their way. A major three-year project is underway to see if synthetic blood can be created from IVF (in vitro fertilization) “leftover” embryos’ stem cells that would normally develop into universally accepted O-negative blood type cells.
