Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Thomas Vollmann, 72, who taught manufacturing management at busines school IMD in Lausanne, has died, in Lausanne. He became a professor emeritus in 2001 but continued to be active in research and in 2008 co-authored the book The Power of Two with fellow professor Carlos Cordon.

Vollmann received his PhD degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and taught at Dartmouth College, the University of Rhode Island, Indiana University, Insead and Boston University, before joining IMD in 1989. He had previously been a Visiting Professor at Imede from 1979-81.

For a number of years, notes IMD, he was a member of the team that offered the Managing Manufacturing programme at the school.
