Bern, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Timothy Geithner, US Secretary of the Treasury, and Hans-Rudolph Merz, president of Switzerland, Tuesday 28 April met as part of negotiations for a new tax treaty between the two countries, but no news filtered out of the meeting and it is not yet clear if any statements will be issued.
Meanwhile, Belgium is asking Switzerland to renegotiate their bilateral treaty, and the Swiss have said they will give an answer within two weeks to Germany’s request for a new treaty. The requests stem from Switzerland’s decision in March to accept the OECD’s Model Tax agreement. As a result the country will consider requests from other countries for banking information about possible tax evaders, but only within the context of renegotiated treaties.

U.S and the world should stop Switzerland secret banking system cos it does not only encourage tax evaders, it is a safe heaven for those African leaders like EX president of Nigeria and lots of them who steal money and end up in banks in swiss.
