Cardiff, Wales, UK (GenevaLunch) – Leicester beat the Cardiff Blues in rugby’s first penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup.
It looked like the Tigers would do it the regular way as they were 14 points up with only 10 minutes left, but the Blues came back with two converted tries to level the match at 26-26. There were no scores in the 20 minutes of extra time. Leicester then won the penalties, taken from the 22-metre line, 7-6 after the first set ended 4-4. Cardiff and Lions flanker Martyn Williams was the unfortunate player to miss the final shot for Cardiff. Tiger’s number 8 Jordan Crane then won it for Leicester. Details, Telegraph, UK
