Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Companies will need to focus on efficiency and minimizing lost profits while ensuring that they don’t forget their role as global citizens, says John R Wells, president of IMD. “In light of the current economic situation, sustainability is more important than ever,” and companies have to juggle social, environmental and economic considerations with sustainable performance in order to contribute to long-term prosperity.
Wells was addressing a group of executives at IMD’s Forum for Corporate Sustainability Management (CSM) who participated in the Lausanne business school’s latest climate change forum which ended 30 April. “Is the giant step forthcoming,” led by newly appointed IMD CSM forum director Corey Billington, brought together 20 CSM member companies whose managers spoke of the importance of companies placing climate change higher on their agenda.
Billington and his team will be focusing on helping companies do more with less during a week-long programme at IMD that starts 14 September 2009.
