Nyon, Switzerland (Tribune de Genève, Fre) – A pilot road project designed to save motorcyclists’ lives on the treacherous route between Nyon and St Cergue was opened 19 May, reports the Tribune. The motorcyclist is physically reminded to slow down thanks to a coating on the surface of the road in strategic spots, with special strips that alert riders. The strips are similar to those on the approaches to French toll booths on the autoroute; they make a tickling noise.

New roadside safety barriers were also deployed in some places along the route, designed so that riders who fall off their bikes cannot slip under or crash through the barrier.

  1. PLT Says:

As a resident of St. Cergue I am DELIGHTED that someone has finally (and hopefully) found a way to halt the use of the Nyon/St. Cergue road as a race track by motorcyclists in summer. Not all motorcyclists are foreigners and many have GE number plates.

It is such a shame that the police in St. Cergue seem to have ignored this problem for so many years and put other law abiding car drivers at such risk.

Next, how to stop the young, French, male car drivers from putting everyone’s lives at risk for driving in exactly the same manner!

Come on St Cergue police! Wake up!!!
