Wimbledon, UK (GenevaLunch) - Wimbledon had a day off for the “middle Sunday” and has not yet had to test the new roof after an unusual absence of rain. In the mens’ draw the dream final of Roger Federer, in search of a record 15th Grand Slam title, against Andy Murray in search of his first, is looking likely.
There are a few potential hurdles for both: Federer needs to repeat his winning ways against Robin Soderling before a likely showdown against Novak Djokovic. Andy Murray should be able to dispose of Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka but could face a much improved Andy Roddick later on.
In the women’s draw the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, have been joined by another American after Melanie Oudin beat 6th seed Jelena Jankovic 6-7 7-5 6-2. Venus will now face Ana Ivanovic in what looks like the pick of the quarter-finals.
Roger Federer opens on Centre Court Monday 29 June at 14:00 (Swiss time) followed by Dinara Safina against Amelie Mauresmo and then Andy Murray takes on Wawrinka.
